events that might be of interest to you. Members should watch
this web page for information about the latest events on offer
During
the next few years Unison Yorkshire Ambulance service branch
will be sponsoring different events and approaching sporting
clubs, race courses, and other venues to provide hospitality
days for our members. There will be a wide range of events
available in different areas of our branch. Members will get
the opportunity to put their names forward for events that
they are interested in. There will be funding for local sponsorship
which members can apply for by writing to the branch committee
Mark Jacobs winner of the
UNISON YAS Branch Sea Fishing Trophy.
The match was fished at Bridlington
on Tuesday 30th March on two boats the Ocean Crusader and
My Girl Gill with the trophy going to the person catching
the heaviest weight of fish from the 2 boats. With good weather
and a steady sea all looked good for a good days fishing however
it was not to be with less than 20 fish being caught between
the 2 boats.
Mark Jacobs managed to catch 3 codling and
2 dabs which was sufficient to lift the trophy. On being asked
his secret Mark said it was probably down to all the expensive
equipment and variety of bait that had clinched it for him.
However everyone else on the boat said b_ _ _ _ _ _ s he was
just lucky on the day. This was the jovial attitude that prevailed
on the day and everyone from both boats agreed that although
the fishing wasn't as good as expected it was a grand day
out.
Thanks go to UNISON for providing the trophy
and sponsoring the prize money of £100 which was divided
into £50 First prize, £30 Second prize and £20
Third prize. The trophy will be fished for again hopefully
in August 09 and anyone wishing to enter should send their
